Recently, while in line at a grocery store, a male cashier, probably mid-50s, greeted the woman in front of me, probably early-50s, with a friendly “Hello, Miss.” I didn’t think much about the salutation until he began ringing up my items and greeted me … “Hello, Ma’am.”
